    Rosa Parks high school

Pilot high school in the 1950s, the Montgeron high school is part of a site with a high quality plant and architectural heritage. The objectives of this restructuring and extension were to enhance this heritage while adding functionality to buildings.

First mixed pilot high school in France in the 1950s, the establishment occupies a plot of 29 hectares located in an urban environment. The site is distinguished by an exceptional architectural and vegetal heritage, which the proposal preserves and reveals. Frequent due to the extent of the area, the movements of users, complicated by the original superposition of pedestrian and automobile networks, have regained their primacy thanks to the release of a pedestrian axis that unifies the complex. At the heart of the islet, three existing buildings are connected by a new one, with discrete horizontality, imagined as «a gateway». Sparing a front built along the promenade, distinctly identified by a forecourt, this ensemble constitutes the core of the school’s life, around which is functionally articulated the dozen buildings distributed in the park.
